Riders above Cholwell

We cater for all standards of riders, from beginners to experienced, and we pride ourselves on the quality of our horses.

Many of our riders travel from far afield on a regular basis.

Whether you are a visitor to the area or live locally, you will find our stables welcoming and our staff and regular riders friendly.

We are open every day of the year, except for Christmas and New Year's Day. We are very popular and can be very busy at any time of the year. To avoid disappointment:

Riders near Wheal Betsy

Directions:

From Exeter - From the A30 Exeter to Launceston road turn left for Tavistock just after the Okehampton turnoff - on to the A386, carry on towards Tavistock and just before Mary Tavy you will see the Wheal Betsy Tin mine in the valley to your left, with Gibbet Hill on the right. A little further on, and a sharp turn to your left is a cattlegridded entrance to Cholwell Riding Stables.

From Tavistock: - Take the A386 from Tavistock towards Okehampton. After the village of Mary Tavy you will cross a cattlegrid onto the moors and the signposted turnoff to Cholwell Riding Stables is on your right before the Wheal Betsy Tin Mine.
